Nigeria: List of States Owing Salaries and Number of Months Owed


  • According to the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) 23 states are currently owing local government workers salaries of up to 16 months.

    1. Bayelsa state- owes 10 to 16 months
    2. Kogi - 7 to 15 months
    3. Delta - 8 to 14 months
    4. Kaduna - 12 months
    5. Oyo - 3 to 11 months
    6. Edo - 10 months
    7. Abia - 5 to 9 months
    8. Kwara - 2 to 9 months
    9. Benue - 9 months
    10. Nasarawa - 7 months
    11. Ondo - 6 months
    12. Ekiti - 6 months
    13. Imo - 6 months
    14. Adamawa - 4 months
    15. Rivers - 4 months
    16. Akwa Ibom - 4 months
    17. Ebonyi - 4 months
    18. Plateau - 4 months
    19. Taraba - 3 months
    20. FCT- 3 months
    21. Enugu- 1 to 3 months
    22. Osun - been paying half salaries for 24 months
    23. Cross River- about 700 workers are owed for between 1 to 3 months
    24. Zamfara - hasn't implemented minimum wage
